About Us

Over the last year our volunteers have supported women across Greater Manchester with various issues ranging from post-natal depression to isolation, low self esteem and mental health issues.

One of the volunteers in her previous role as Community Development Worker who worked at The Roby Mental health project post-2014 has maintained contact with women from Longsight and the surrounding areas who used to attend the preventative mental health well-being group.

The South Asian women have expressed a need for a group as they feel very isolated, more so with the pandemic. Some have experienced domestic abuse and been diagnosed with depressed, anxiety and stress-related problems.

We are a group of women who have professional experience in this sector and since the pandemic we have noticed and received a marked increase in women who one of the workers previously supported getting in touch with her needing support. and GMSAW has been developed to directly response to this.

The staff and trustees involved in the GMSAW organisation have over 35 years of experience in working with South Asian women across Greater Manchester.
